Re: Target setting days
I would like to firstly welcome all the students back to school for another academic year. As you know the challenges we face are great to achieve the best outcomes and opportunities for your son and in order to strengthen our partnership of support we are introducing a new initiative.
It was decided by the Governing body during the last academic year for us to facilitate 4 Target Setting day’s a year for Tutors to meet with their students and parents/carers to discuss subject targets and personal targets. This allows for dedicated time to support the Academy and parent partnership, to ensure strong communication. Research and evidence supports this as being an effective strategy to improve student outcomes.
I’m aware that the first of these dates is short notice; however it is key for setting the expectations for the whole year and must be early in the new year. The first scheduled Target Setting and Review Day is Tuesday 27th September. During this day Tutors will co-ordinate a meeting time with each student and their parents/carers whether it be in school or and another agreed place, such as home. In order to allow us to meet with every parent/carer we will be closing the Academy to allow visits and offsite meetings to take place. Parent carer meetings will be available from 9am to 7pm on these Target setting days.
The consequent days are December 6th 2016, April 4th 2017 and July 11th 2017.
Tutors will be contacting you to over the coming weeks to arrange a suitable time for your meeting with them.
If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact your son’s tutor at the school.
