Marwell’s Zany Zebras

In 2013 we got involved with Marwell’s GoRhino! project. (That’s where Gary came from.)photo 1 copy 2Gary, who is loved by all the students and always a source of amusement for visitors, will shortly be joined by a new member of the LWS family. This year we are getting involved with Marwell’s Zany Zebras project. If you would like more information about the Zany Zebras please click here.

Year 9,10 and 11 – Same day after-school detention strategy

Just a quick not to inform all parents and carers of a new strategy to support students thinking, when removing themselves from lessons.

We offer plenty of opportunities for students to discuss concerns and behaviour during the day and to reach a compromise – however we have a few students who still refuse to follow direction or attempt to reason with staff. If students accumulate more than 2 zero point scores for their lessons, which may come from refusing to engage in learning or leaving lessons without permission, they will have an immediate after-school put into place. Students who do not follow the ‘anti-smoking’ policy will also serve an immediate after-school.

Parents and carers will be informed if a student requires an immediate after-school detention. The expectation will be for the student to make their own way home (parents/carers can collect if they wish). Transport money/passes and a planned route home will be provided, but the taxi will be cancelled for that day. We have 2 bus stations near us and a train station.

Thank you for supporting us in preparing our students/your son for the real-world.

Academy Update

The Academy site will reopen from 11.00am on Thursday 5th February. Please expect your normal taxi from 10.20am. The reason for the delayed start is to allow an opportunity for the heating system to run for 24hrs, clear of any further faults. We look forward to welcoming you all back, following some very successful work in your community.
